REGARDING JOE PLASS,
I just got my copy of the new After Hours CD. I couldn’t wait to listen. It was worth the wait. The only thing I can say is….if you drive a 700 HP super car, DO NOT listen to this CD while driving. The irresistible urge to tap your right foot could prove to be very expensive.
Joe’s a modest guy about who he’s played with and who runs in his circle. He goes back to the days before Jeff Lorber was a household name in the jazz world.
My only complaint is why has it taken you so long to release this? It is a top notch CD from a top notch Bass Player. The musicianship is first class. As I said last week, I suspected this would be one of the best CD’s released this year. I have not been disappointed.
“Mr. Plass is offering a wonderful blend of funk, jazz and smooth vocals. Highly recommend. Irresistible.”
My friend Joe Plass has an incredible CD out to purchase right now. In what seems like a passing statement–it’s much more than that. When you purchase a musician’s product it not only helps their bottom line-it encourages them to keep putting out great music. No one has to be world famous, they just have to have folks just like you buying their art.
While After Hours may be Joe Plass’ debut solo release, this quality bassist is no newbie to the studio or the touring scene. Case in point, from 1984 – 1986, he toured and recorded with an artist you may have heard of by the name of Kenny G. In fact, he is featured on the very CD that served as my introduction to “smooth jazz,” Kenny G’s Duotones release. So, whether he knows it or not, he’s played a pretty significant role in my musical life.
Joe is incredible. But more than that he’s always been JOE. His kindness is unsurpassed and he’s a wonderful human being.
One of the best in the business, and a great guy.
Encourage Joe and all musicians who make products. When you keep buyin’-he keeps tryin’ and we’ll all be the better for it!!!!”
You might not recognize his name, but you’ve heard him play before. Any of you remember “Let’s Get Crackin” or “Electrophonic Funk” by the group Shock? That’s Joe playing on those albums! This is his just released solo CD. Grab it on CD Baby.
